Is it painful?
No. It feels warm — most people compare it to a hot stone massage and a fair few nearly fall asleep. The handpiece is monitored throughout so it never gets uncomfortable.
When will I see a difference?
There's often a subtle tightening straight after the first session from the immediate collagen contraction. The real change builds across a course of six to eight and keeps developing for about three months after the last one.
How long does it last?
It varies a good deal between people, so we'll give you a realistic picture at your consultation rather than a number here. Most clients keep it topped up with an occasional maintenance session. It slows ageing rather than stopping it — anyone promising otherwise isn't being straight with you.
Is it a replacement for a facelift?
No, and we won't pretend it is. RF suits mild to moderate laxity — an early softening along the jawline, the neck, or the stomach after weight change or pregnancy. Where laxity is more advanced it isn't the right treatment, and we'll say so at the consultation rather than take your money.
Is there anyone who shouldn't have it?
RF isn't suitable if you're pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, or have metal implants in the treatment area. Tell us at your consultation and we'll check properly.
